iPage Hosting Pros:
Here are a few things we liked about iPage’s hosting service.

When subscribing to a hosting plan, you can waive off the domain registration fees worth $14.95. That way you can manage both the domain and hosting accounts from a single login credential.

You get $200 worth advertising credits (AdWords and Bing ads combined). You can also subscribe to SiteLock addon for as low as $1.99 / mo. to protect your site from malware.
Excellent Customer Support
iPage offers expert assistance when in need with 24/7 phone, live chat, and ticket-based email systems. We found iPage’s live chat support pretty fast and on point. The agent was quickly connected to the chat and was very problem solving. Their knowledge base is pretty straightforward, without fluff, so you can easily resolve web hosting issues on your own as well with a little digging.
Here are a few shortcomings of iPage…
No cPanel Access
iPage comes with vDeck for managing your hosting account, instead of cPanel, the most popular hosting management software. There’s a bit of learning curve to tackle if you’re already familiar with cPanel.
Site Builder Limitation
While site builder is free with every iPage hosting plan, it has a lot of limitations, like you’re allowed to publish only 6 pages with it. To get rid of the limitations, you’ll have to purchase a higher plan.
High Loading Time
After our iPage speed tests, we found that iPage hosting server is slower than other hosting providers. A slow-loading website creates a poor user experience.
iPage Speed Tests and Uptime Guarantee
Choosing a reliable web hosting service is the most important step when it comes to building a high-speed website.
In our iPage review, we’ve put their promises to the test.
To test the performance of iPage’s servers, we set up a WordPress website using the default Twenty Seventeen theme and filled it with dummy content for theme development, including images. That way our test site would behave like an actual average WordPress site.
According to our Pingdom’s website speed test, our site loaded in less than 3 seconds and was faster than 60% of the websites tested. Just like the speed test, it’s important to analyze whether your hosting service can survive a traffic surge.
For our traffic surge test, we used a popular testing tool, Load Impact, and sent some virtual users (VU) to our site. They gradually built up to 100 visitors at a time to see how the server would handle it.
In the chart below, you can find blue (VUs active) and green lines (VU load time) which represent the number of virtual visitors sent to the testing site and the time it took to load the web page for the respective number of users on the site.
From our test, it’s evident that iPage server can perform without any trouble regardless of the number of visitors present on the site. As you can see, our test site became a bit slow when there were about 50 users on the site. After that, it remained stable even though the number of users kept increasing.
It’s also important to note that no downtime was recorded during our hosting performance test. It remained stable and responsive.
iPage Server Response Time
Without a doubt, images account for most of the downloadable bytes. Meaning, publishing too many images on a page can significantly impact your page’s loading time.
This also means conducting a speed test on a content-heavy site and a site with no content will be different. Since our goal is to test the performance of our server, not the site, we needed to conduct a more accurate test by ignoring the content.
To get an accurate result, we used another testing tool known as Bitcatcha, which works a bit differently than Pingdom. Bitcatcha analyzes server response time around the globe by completely ignoring the content of the site.
It averages the loading speed from eight different global locations: New York, LA, London, Brazil, India, Singapore, Japan, and Australia. The speed for each location is measured three separate times, and then the results are averaged.
With this test, you get a broader overview of how your server responds globally to page requests.
According to our Bitcatcha test, our iPage site was rated C.
Our server responded in less than a second in all locations except Japan. If your target audience is located mainly in Japan, then you may want to look for a server closer to that region.
iPage Customer Support
iPage has an extensive online help center containing no-fluff, including step-by-step tutorials that guide you through every aspect of web hosting.
Support is provided in 3 modes: 24/7 phone, live chat, and an email ticketing system.
For our iPage review, we contacted their support staff multiple times via live chat and asked them a few different questions. We found customer support to be knowledgeable, friendly, and prompt.
We also sent them a few support emails and got a response within a few hours each time. Overall, we found iPage customer support to be timely and helpful.
Ease of Use
All iPage hosting packages come bundled with an easy-to-use website drag and drop builder and a 1-click WordPress installer.
With the website builder, you can create a professional, mobile-friendly site the way you want in no time flat. You also get SEO tools, online store integration, and more.
Unlike most hosting companies, iPage does not offer cPanel. Instead, they offer their own customized version of a control panel which they refer to as vDeck. Account management is incredibly easy with vDeck. However, if you’re experienced with cPanel already, you may find it slightly disappointing. However, there’s no drastic difference between cPanel and vDeck.

Yes! You can always upgrade your iPage hosting plan when needed.
Does iPage offer a month-to-month payment option?

If you’re running a small website or blog, there’s nothing to be concerned about because you’ll get more than enough system resources to operate it.
